1970 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle

1970 brought an updated Chevelle, with bigger, more rectangular looks, and even bigger optional engines. The ultimate, of course, was the SS with the LS-6 454, but plainer cars (like this one) were available. It's refreshing to see a '70 Chevelle with dog-dish hubcaps, no racing stripes, and Malibu badging.

 

 

 

1983 Chevrolet Chevette

The Chevette, introduced in 1976, was Chevy's small compact through the seventies and eighties. The Chevette was available as a 3 or 5 door, and even a two seater Scooter model. Though it is now remembered as a lemon, it was popular at the time, and was a somewhat-worthy competitor to the Japanese. This Chevette is a sweet specimen, with its roof rack and dog-dish hubcaps.

  

 

 

 

1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS

The El Camino was Chevy's pickup car, introduced in 1959 to compete with the Ford Ranchero. Like the Chevelle it was based on, the 3rd generation arrived in 1968, available in the high-performance SS 396 package. For 1969, the SS had the 396 again, with 265-375 HP, depending on how hot you wanted it. It's surprising--though awesome--to see a SS still on the job. This one's bed is filled with doors from a '60s Chevy Greenbrier van.

 

 

 

 

Repost: 21st Century Chevy Bel Air

This was chopped several years ago and was my idea for a top-end Chevrolet rear wheel drive luxury 4-seat coupe. I created it from a Mercedes Benz CL coupe and I used the quad taillights Bel Airs were known for. I also gave it a flying buttress roofline, evocative of the mid-Sixties Chevelle coupes, and of course,it  was a long-standing Corvette styling cue, too. The rocker panel brushed aluminum trim has faux "vents" in front of the rear wheels, an homage to the great little details Harley Earl was known for.

1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The Monte Carlo was Chevy's personal luxury coupe, and was introduced in 1970. Although the image was supposedly that of an elegant, luxurious car, the Monte Carlo was available as a SS, with a huge 454 CI engine. The single headlights, blocky rear fenders, and sweeping roof line made for a recognizable, and good-looking car. This one is lowered slightly, and the beige-on-beige color suits it well.

 

 

1961 Chevrolet Impala

The redesigned 3rd generation Impala became an instant classic, all four years it was on sale. The first year, 1961, was, in my opinion, the most beautiful of them all, especially the bubbletop coupe. Available was the SS package, though today they are very rare. Obviously, '61 Impalas are very collectible, which makes this sighting even more amazing. A fantastic patina, cool period custom rims, and all the little design elements make this Impala one of the best finds of 2013.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

The third generation C3 Corvette was introduced in 1968, and lasted all they until 1982, putting this 1976 right in the middle. The C3 was gradually restyled throughout the seventies until it had both the front and rear polyurethane bumpers shown here. Also in 1976 was an increase in power of the base engine, to 180 HP, and 210 HP for the L82. This car stands out with its bright yellow paint, tasteful modern alloys, and sleek shape.

  

 

Corvette C7 4-door Corsa, Second Version

This was actually the first C7 4-door I created, but I posted the second, more refined, version first. This rendering shows the rear 3/4 view and the cool sliding glass roof/rear window I created for it. The glass panels are approximately 9-10 inches wide from windshield header to rear spoiler and at the push of a button would slide back over themselves, resting on top of each other, leaving the entire interior open to the sun- or moonlight.

1976 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 Spyder

Bringing back memories of the Mustang and Corvair with its name, the Monza 2+2's "Spyder" package arrived in 1976. Included was a 4.3-liter V8, special striping and badging, and sporty styling cues. The Monza originally arrived in 1975, intended to compete with the downsized Mustang II, and was based on the Vega. I've always thought the Monzas (and their similar GM cousins) were fairly good-looking cars, and this one, despite the fact it appears to have fallen on hard times, is no exception. Although it has had a non-original (spray paint?) paint job applied, a hint of the original graphics remain on the spoiler.
